A new Iowa Energy Plan has been unveiled by the Lt. Governor following eighteen months of research and planning. It is said to be a road map to keep the state at the forefront of renewable energy and development of new sources of power and storage that will bring jobs and prosperity to the state.
Soon to be Governor, Kim Reynolds, introduced the Iowa Energy Plan at the capitol Wednesday in an attempt to set priorities for the state?s energy future.
Tina Hoffman from the Iowa Department of Economic Development says Iowa has built and advantage over other regions of the country and this plan builds on our current position.
“Iowa is already a leader of course in ethanol, biodiesel, and wind energy. It is also important if we are going to ensure that same kind of reliability, affordability, and sustainability over the long term.”
Hoffman says there are four main pillars of the strategy laid out in the Lt. Governor?s Energy Plan. “Those include economic development energy careers, Iowa’s energy resources, transportation and infrastructure , and energy efficiency and conservation.
