As he prepares to move back into the White House in Washington, D.C., Republican President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former White House aide Brooke Rollins to be his Secretary of Agriculture. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Mark Eisele said he is cautiously optimistic about Rollins taking the reins of the USDA.
Eisele also sees some positive things ahead for cattle producers in this second Trump Administration.
Personally, Eisele said taxation may be his “biggest ax to grind.”
Just like any other business, Eisele said farmers and ranchers use whichever tax structures are most beneficial to them.
The new session of the U.S. Congress begins January 3. Trump will be sworn in as President on January 20.
