The new National FFA Officer Team has been announced.

Each year, the National FFA Organization selects six student members to represent the organization as a national FFA officer. The primary responsibility of a national officer is to serve the organization in local, state, national and international activities in a way that will inform, motivate and inspire FFA members, advisors, state staff, teachers and others to achieve the mission, strategies and core goals of the organization.

On Saturday, the six students selected to serve for the 2021-2022 year were from Washington, Delaware, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Oregon, and Georgia.

Among the initial 37 finalists was Iowa native Kabe Boysen from Morning Sun and a junior at Iowa State University. Boysen?s run for the national officer team came up short during the first phase of the national selection process at this year?s National FFA Convention & Expo. Boysen told the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network that no matter how things shook out, he was proud to be picked to represent Iowa.

?It?s a feeling that is so hard to explain because it?s a lot of work, but it?s so rewarding no matter what happens just for the fact that there is a lot of personal growth and a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff you see when prepping for interviews,? said Boysen. ?You talk with a lot of individuals. It?s just something that made me super excited and obviously my love for the industry is second to none. After getting that, I kind of got the jitters and was so excited to relay the message to all of the family after getting selected as Iowa?s candidate.?

National officers dedicate one year of service with the organization. The time is spent representing student membership during meetings with the National FFA Board of Directors, facilitating workshops that bring leadership and knowledge to FFA members, delivering motivational speeches and serving as advocates for FFA on a global scale.

National FFA officers are selected by a nominating committee at National Convention. Learn more about the new officers HERE.
