BASF is one of the new entrants in the soybean breeding world and is one of only a handful of companies introducing new varieties to the marketplace. The Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network had the chance to catch up with Brady Spangenberg of BASF at the Farm Progress Show and get an up-close look at the new soybean varieties in BASF’s portfolio for next year.
Spangenberg is the Marketing Director, Crop Protection for BASF Agricultural Solutions and he says that with the price crunch on ag commodities this year, farmers were faced with tough management decisions.
Because of the wide range of planting times this year, Spangenberg says that combines will also be operating at different times throughout the fall.
He says as growers continue the trend of planting soybeans earlier, farmers need crop protection tools to assist them early in the season.
Spangenberg also offered a cautionary warning for farmers who try to cut corners with their management plan in an attempt to save money.
