The weather has been on the drier side in some parts of the state recently, as regions like western Iowa have seen the return of abnormally dry conditions on the drought monitor. However, this isn’t as big of a problem right now, as the crops are very close to full maturity. Justin Glisan, state climatologist for Iowa, gave an update on the latest conditions.
This past weekend may have held some of the best fall weather we’ll get, as Glisan said temperatures will pick up again here soon.
Glisan also gave an update on the return of the La Nina weather pattern, which is expected to happen this fall.
If that La Nina forms this fall, Glisan said to expect wetter conditions.
As for the winter, Glisan said there’s a good amount of variability in how La Nina could impact the weather in Iowa.
