Biosecurity is an important key to success in the pork industry, especially during show season when pigs from different states mingle. John Heins, manager of producer relations for the National Pork Board, said show pig producers need to have several important factors in their biosecurity plans.
Show pig producers need to be extra cautious when transporting their animals.
Heins added that, if you plan to take a particular animal to a show and notice something seems off, keep the pig at home to protect the animals belonging to other exhibitors.
