Agriculture is evolving. It has been since the first seeds were ever planted in the soil for the hopes of growing food. Over those centuries and millennia, we have constantly sought out ways to do the job better. The tools and practices we use have been just as important as the advancements in seeds and technology. As this new renaissance of agriculture grows, John Deere is wanting farmers to know that they are looking at their advancements from a season-long, whole operation approach.

Joel Dawson is the Director of Precision Ag Products with John Deere. He says that the goal of John Deere is to look at how they can make things better for the operator. Not just in one sector of the business or another, but across the whole board. Connecting the technologies as you connect the jobs throughout the year for producing quality commodities.

Precision agriculture was a blip on the horizon at the turn of the century. There were technologies being developed to help a farmer maximize their time in the cab and help them get the most out of their growing season. While the dreams for advancing this technology were lofty, the amount of growth in the precision agriculture arena has been amazing, to say the least.

The scope of agriculture is changing towards conservation and sustainability. Dawson says that John Deere is committed to being a leader in this latest revolution. They want their customers to be the most productive and profitable growers they can be.

While there has been an increase in the number of larger operations and the growing need for machines that can handle those acres, John Deere is just as committed to bringing the latest and best in new technologies to farm operations of every size. There is no room to leave any farmer behind in this new wave coming to agriculture.

Dawson says that John Deere also realizes that with the state of the Ag industry over the past few years, it is not easy for farmers to buy the latest and the greatest equipment all at one time. It is about being able to upgrade the equipment as you can. That?s why John Deere wants to keep investing in their technology and help it be available for farmers well into the future.

Dawson says that they are grateful to the Iowa producers, as well as producers around the country who are keeping John Deere in business. They are also thankful for their dealers and manufacturing employees across Iowa. They are all essential for keeping the company strong in uncertain times.
