The whole state of Iowa is still dealing with drought, but we?ve started to finally get some relief. Some nice, gentle rains helped to refill the soil profiles, but we still need more. Iowa State Climatologist Dr. Justin Glisan said that many areas of the state saw a category of improvement.
November has been wetter than average to start with, but Glisan said the forecast is looking to be cold and dry for the next several weeks.
At this point in the year, we don?t have to worry about the cold weather damaging crops anymore, but we could see some issues for livestock since it went from hot to cold so quickly. Other than that, though, Glisan said the sudden shift shouldn?t bring too many issues.
Glisan added that the La Nina weather pattern is contributing to these much colder temperatures.
