Less than a week from now, Iowans will descend on Des Moines for the Iowa State Fair. It is a chance for our citizens to celebrate everything about Iowa. Among those things we celebrate is the agriculture industry. Whether it is the animals we show to the food we eat, Iowa farmers are held in high esteem at the yearly event.
However, as we approach the State Fair, the agriculture industry is facing some unnecessary frustrations in the policy arena. We were supposed to have a new Farm Bill last year, and it looks like we won’t have one before the end of this year as well. Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig talks about how the fair can be a great way to celebrate and advocate for the ag industry during these frustrating times.
Secretary Naig will join us again next week at the beginning of the Iowa State Fair to share what we celebrate during the 11 days.
