In a time when we are all having to tighten our belts again, it is not out of the question to take stock of monies being spent and make sure that you are getting the most out of each dollar. After all, any dollar not being spent wisely should be reallocated.

This is especially true when it comes to your checkoff dollars. Iowa farmers are giving the state association one penny per bushel of their grain sold to go towards research and promotion of our corn industry and products. The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) welcomes questions about your checkoff dollars and is happy to share how those dollars are being used.

Steve Kuiper is the District 8 Director of the ICGA and he talks about what the research that ICGA can do with your checkoff dollars. He says they are always working to find new ways to use our corn.

Kuiper also said that Sustainable Aviation Fuel should be a “no-brainer” for corn producers to want to be involved in promoting. He added that any producer that was traveling to and from Commodity Classic should have just been able to look out any airport window and see why the need for SAF is real.

Kuiper adds that promotion is more than just finding new uses for corn. It is also about telling the story of the Iowa producers and their work to produce a sustainable and safe product for consumers.
