We’re always celebrating the corn industry in Iowa, but today was an extra special celebration of corn and ethanol at the Iowa State Fair. The Iowa Corn Growers Association celebrated Corn Day by bringing in a display truck, handing out merch, and showing off a cutting-edge hybrid vehicle. Kelly Nieuwenhuis, Iowa Corn Promotion Board Chair, talked about today’s grand celebration.

Nieuwenhuis said the trailer shows off some of the over 4,000 different products that use corn, and many of those products are outside of food and fuel.

With high attendance numbers every day, the Iowa State Fair provides an excellent opportunity to show off Iowa’s corn industry.

The ICGA display also included a hybrid car that runs on both E-85 and electricity.

Nieuwenhuis said the car is a great example of the biofuel industry’s dedication to an all-of-the-above energy strategy.
