A recent issue that has been making its way through the House and the Senate is the foreign ownership of U.S. land, specifically when it comes to farmland. The Chinese Communist Party in particular has been bold with its purchases of U.S. farmland. Iowa 2nd District Congresswoman Ashley Hinson said that the Select Committee on China is working on coming up with policies to push back against the CCP?s aggression.
It’s important to keep farmland in the hands of farmers, because they are the original stewards of the land. Hinson said it?s good to have some foreign investment in the U.S. to create jobs, but it needs to be the right kind of investment.
Hinson added that she welcomes producers to attend her meetings throughout the district and join in on the discussion.
