2022 was a big year for ethanol with high gas prices causing more drivers to opt for ethanol blends at the pump. Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper says that despite large demand for ethanol this year, there is still a lot of room for growth for the industry.
The renewable fuel standard program was created by Congress to reduce greenhouse emissions and expand the nation’s renewable fuels sector. Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper says that the Environmental Protection Agency recently released its latest proposal for blending requirements for the next three years.
Cooper foresees the expansion and development of renewable aviation fuel as the next big growth sector for renewable fuels.
The Inflation Reduction Act which was also passed in 2022 also provides several avenues for growth in the renewable fuels market according to Geoff Cooper.
