Labor shortages have been a critical issue in the agriculture sector in recent years.
On his weekly conference call on Tuesday, Iowa U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley was asked about the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. The act has passed the House of Representatives twice since 2019 and Grassley was asked about how likely he feels that the senate could consider and pass the bill before the end of the year.
Grassley says that he has heard discussions about the bill but that he foresees roadblocks for the bill in the senate.
The Farm Workforce Modernization Act is a bipartisan bill that would make changes to the H-2A agricultural guest worker program and would allow farm workers and their families to earn legal status through continued employment in the agricultural industry.
That?s Iowa U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley on his weekly Tuesday conference call with reporters.
