Alec Amundson, Wade Dooley, Brice Hundling and Natasha Wilson are the newest additions to Practical Farmers of Iowa’s board of directors. Elected by PFI members in January, their support ensures farmer priorities continue to guide and ground the organization’s work.
Practical Farmers’ 12 board members serve in many capacities, from ensuring PFI is fiscally sound and programs remain effective and farmer-focused, to providing leadership, advice and direction to staff. All of the newly elected members are beginning their first three-year terms.
At-Large Farmer Director: Alec Amundson and his wife, Rachel Amundson, run Green Country Farms in Osage, Iowa. Together, they raise corn, soybeans, oats and rye.
“The knowledge and diversity of PFI members, along with their willingness to share, is outstanding,” Alec says. “I enjoy being active in PFI and giving back to the community in every way I can. Serving on the board is another way to contribute and help ensure PFI’s success for the future.”
District 2 (North Central Iowa): Wade Dooley runs Glenwood Century Farm, a diversified crop and livestock operation focusing on raising cover crop seed near Albion, Iowa. Wade also owns Dooley Ag Stewardship Inc., offering custom cover crop seeding services and seed.
“Being a PFI member has completely changed my farming operation and mindset for the better,” Wade says.
“Becoming a board member, I felt, was one way I could give back and support the organization that has been so impactful for me.”
District 1 (Northwest Iowa): Brice Hundling and his wife, Melanie Hundling, run a diversified family farm in Breda, Iowa. Together, they raise pigs and cattle for Niman Ranch, sheep, goats, ducks, geese, laying hens, broilers, turkeys, peacocks, guineas, bees and several grain varieties.
“PFI has a long history of promoting research and implementation of new and innovative ideas. To help guide that mission is an honor,” Brice says.
At-Large Farmer Director: Natasha Wilson and her family run West Fork Farmstead near West Chester, Iowa.
Together, they raise grass-fed beef, heritage pork, pastured chickens, chicken and duck eggs and raw honey.
“PFI has been a tremendous resource for my family as we’ve made big changes on our farm, navigating generational transition and implementing regenerative farming practices,” Natasha says. “I’m grateful for this wonderful community and am glad to serve and support other farmers.”
These individuals join hundreds of Practical Farmers of Iowa members who serve in leadership roles within the organization — whether by hosting field days, conducting on-farm research, mentoring beginning farmers, volunteering at events, speaking with the media, serving on committees and more.
