In August at the Iowa State Fair, United States Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) told the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network that he was optimistic that a new farm bill would be completed in time.
However, during his weekly ag conference call with reporters on Tuesday Grassley voiced concerns about the bill being completed in time.
Senator Grassley argues that Democrats don’t want to give up any food stamp money and share it with producers.
Grassley says, “we’re running out of time” and a one-year extension may be needed without a farm bill by Christmas.
