Enrollment is currently open for the Practical Farmers of Iowa’s cover crop cost-share program. Morgan Jennings, PFI’s field crops viability coordinator, said the program is now in its tenth year.

Jennings said the program is uniquely flexible, as farmers seeding fall cover crops can get payment rates of $10 or $15 per acre on an unlimited number of acres as well as personalized agronomic support.

That flexibility also extends to the range of farmers who are eligible for the program.

Jennings said the producers who are already in the program have really enjoyed having access to the PFI network of farmers.

Jennings added that the deadline to apply is December 2, 2024.
