Promoting U.S. pork is an ongoing process but Dr. David Newman, senior vice president of market growth for the National Pork Board says that everyone in the pork industry is working towards increasing demand after a rough year for producers.
Newman says that the Covid pandemic brought about unique economic and market conditions and that the domestic marketplace is still normalizing post-Covid.
Despite the domestic market being turned upside down by recent economic conditions, exports have been a shining light for the industry, says Dr. Newman.
He says that there is still room for export growth in both mature international markets and emerging marketplaces for U.S. pork.
Newman says that in 2023 exports will account for around 30% of total production. For more information visit https://www.porkcheckoff.org/
