This year’s harvest is looking to be a bumper crop, and the drier weather conditions have allowed farmers to work mostly unimpeded. Southwest Iowa Beck’s Agronomist Nate Meyer said most farmers in his area are very happy with their yields.
This has officially been the driest September on record for Iowa, though, which means that, on top of potential crop issues, there’s a heightened risk for field fires.
Since farmers are already dealing with enough on their plates during harvest, Meyer said it’s important to practice proper safety when driving behind farm machinery.
