Delay to GREET model modifications hindering SAF innovation

Biden administration officials made the recent announcement that they would miss a self-imposed deadline of March 1 to complete modifications to the GREET model for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). The model is important for determining eligibility for the Inflation Reduction Act’s “40-B” SAF tax credit.

Without the certainty and clarity of what to expect from the updated GREET model for sustainable aviation fuels, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) says Iowans are without guidance.

Grassley says the growth possibility of the SAF industry makes it vitally important to Iowa’s farmers.

In addition to the economic benefits of SAF, the sustainable fuel would also have a tremendous positive impact on the environment says Grassley.

Grassley says corn will be the feedstock necessary to help power SAF.

Chuck Grassley made his comments on Tuesday during his weekly ag conference call with broadcasters and reporters.
