Dairy economics remain solid, for now

There are numerous hurdles for U.S. ag producers to navigate in 2025. The back and forth between the United States and trade partners over tariffs, and lower commodity prices while input costs remain high.

Despite the uncertainty and headwinds for the ag industry, Chris Galen, senior vice president of member services and governance for the National Milk Producers Federation says there is optimism for the dairy industry right now.

Galen says that despite the positive outlook for dairy in 2025, things can change quickly if the industry loses export markets because of tariffs and retaliation.
