It?s full steam ahead for our summer fairs and celebrations all around the state. It?s a great time to celebrate our local communities, the kids and their projects, and get together with people from all over our cities and counties. These all culminate with the Iowa State Fair, which will be held August 10th ? 20th in Des Moines.
So far, the atmosphere has been very relaxed at our local county fairs. There has been less worry about foreign animal diseases, especially Avian Influenza. That means there is less stress on those running fairs and those who are exhibiting livestock.
Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig talks about the celebratory atmosphere that fairs bring, especially when some of these stressors are removed.
The Secretary commends the hard work of local communities and counties for maintaining and improving the quality of these events, making them viable for the future of these celebrations.
Make sure you check your local county fairs and get ready for the Iowa State Fair in August. Don?t forget to stop by and see all of us at the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network tent, near the Super Bull, every day of the fair.
