Corteva?s Carbon Calculator helps farmers implement a sequestration plan

Carbon programs are coming at you from every possible direction. While the goal of carbon sequestration is admirable, the devil is always in the details. What is it going to cost your operation to implement the plan? What is your return on investment? These are just a few very legitimate questions that producers should be asking. However, it isn?t always easy to figure those numbers quickly.

Or is it?

Today, we continue our discussion with Anthony Lackore of Corteva. He tells us about a tool they have available to help producers figure out the best practices for their operation. It is their Carbon Calculator. Lackore explains how the interface works.

This is part of the Corteva Carbon Program that they have rolled out. It is a program that they feel gives producers more freedom to assess what works or doesn?t work during their commitment time. Lackore says that even with the numbers you have from the calculator, you can still set up a meeting with a member of Corteva to walk you through all the information of your operation and discuss what options may work the best for you.

Lackore dives further into the flexibility that Corteva is allowing producers in their carbon program. It?s not about just locking in a long-term commitment; it is about making sure you are able to take advantage of what may be your best practice on your acres.

Lackore says that producers need to be certain that their plans are agronomically and economically possible to make these practices work. These programs aren?t meant to be another source of income, but rather to help you offset the cost in practices you are already looking to implement.
