Corteva Agriscience has announced the upcoming launch of a new soybean pre-emergence herbicide for the 2021 growing season.

Kyber is Corteva?s new crop protection product and will come in a liquid premix. Aaron Smith ? US product manager for soybean herbicides at Corteva Agriscience ? says growers using Kyber will be able to start the season clean by controlling weeds from day one.

?As a pre-emerge soybean herbicide, Kyber has three effective modes of action on Groups 15, 14, and 5,? Smith said. ?Each of the active ingredients and modes of action in Kyber are all effective individually, but when you put them together in a premix, we are creating the right combination to control difficult weeds. The three effective modes of action in Kyber are especially important for resistance management. Another key benefit to Kyber is the residual control growers using Kyber will receive.?

Smith says the solution provides strong control of some of the toughest weeds farmers face including waterhemp, Palmer amaranth, and common ragweed. The herbicide?s extensive residual activity lasts four to six weeks, even going beyond six weeks in the right conditions.

The new product is expected to be available next month.

?We have received registration from the US Environmental Protection Agency, as well as label approvals in several soybean producing states,? Smith said. ?We will make this product available for sales starting in November for the 2021 cropping season. We are very excited to be able to launch Kyber for growers to bring additional benefits to them in the 2021 season.?

Smith explained that what sets the Kyber herbicide apart is that it allows for better long-term field management to help maximize yield potential, not just for one season, but into the future. For growers planting Enlist E3 soybeans, Kyber will fit very well in their weed management plans.
