Last week, we looked back on the 2021 growing season, and ahead for the 2022 crop year. We talked about the variability of growing conditions in the state, and how farmers in the southern part of the state came through the crop cycle. There were pleasant surprises, but the crops were not without challenges. Northern Iowa saw different circumstances but seemed to have similar results; better corn than was expected.
Dave Hallberg is with Syngenta and handles NK Corn in the northern section of Iowa. He called 2021 the strangest year he has witnessed in his region.
Hallberg talks about dry conditions and the pressure from disease and pests.
Hallberg peered into his crystal ball to talk about what problems he sees sticking around in 2022. He also talks about some options you have in your battle against rootworms.
Hallberg runs down the NK Hybrids that have performed well in these challenging conditions.
