The battle over access to funding for biofuel improvement is part of the Farm Bill, but with only a one-year patch job, updates to the programs aren’t going to be happening anytime soon. Modernization of the titles is more than just a little overdue.

To that end, Iowa 3rd District Congressman Zach Nunn has joined with Illinois Democrat Nikki Budzinski to introduce the Agricultural Biorefinery Innovation and Opportunity Act (AgBIO Act). Congressman Nunn talks about the bill and what it is going to mean for the industry.

The bill will offer $100 million dollars in funding, annually, for five years. I asked Congressman Nunn how much support he expects to find with that price tag, especially as we have a government shutdown looming and a Farm Bill on thin ice.

Nunn said that is going to take some work to educate congressional members on both sides of the aisle to get this done the correct way.

The government shutdown deadline is approaching on Friday.
