COLFAX, Iowa – It was a good run at the first June sale at the weekly sheep and goat auction in Colfax. 610 head of sheep sold, with feeder lambs fetching the day?s high average price of $2.20 per pound. Fed lambs averaged $2.07 per pound, while prices on the 107 head of goats ranged from $102.50-$180 per head. However, Colfax Livestock Sale Company Cattle Fieldman, Dr. L. Birchmier, noted that the goats between 45 and 75 pounds sold on Saturday were a dairy/meat cross breed, which do not have the usual quality of meat.
