The COVID-19 pandemic has done what many challenges do, and that is to bring out the best in many people. The heroes are not the people playing with a ball or the people on the silver screen. The heroes are the ones who put themselves in harm?s way, even during a pandemic, to make us all safe. In rural areas, many of those people volunteer to put themselves at risk. The folks at Champion Seed recognize this and are saying thank you to those Central Iowa heroes.

Brett Hodnefield is a co-owner and sales manager for Champion Seed. He said Champion Seed realizes the need to give back to their communities and wanted to give back to those people who are putting themselves at risk during this pandemic.

This very day, Friday the 15th of May. Champion Seed is saying thank you to first-responders in the cities of Jewell, Hubbard, Story City, Ellsworth, and Radcliffe. They are giving police officers and first-responders a small thank you.

Those locations, once again, are:

  • Kaffe Geita ? Story City, IA
  • Kum & Go ? Ellsworth, IA
  • Co-Mart ? Radcliffe, IA
  • Casey’s General Store ? Jewell, IA
  • Casey?s General Store ? Hubbard, IA

Not only is Champion Seed doing coffee and a donut for first responders, but they are also furnishing complimentary meals for all staff working with COVID-19 patients at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Sustaining rural health infrastructure is challenging enough for small towns, even when conditions are normal. Trying to maintain under a pandemic is even more daunting. Champion seed salutes all the hard work of the first responders, police, and healthcare workers during these trying times.
