Biofuels industry still waiting for promised aid a year later

Back in December 2020, and during a different administration, the USDA announced $700 million in relief for the biofuels industry. This was to help offset the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the year the industry had been left off lists of industries being helped but was also left off of Ag assistance. Now, almost a year later, the ?light at the end of the tunnel? still seems to be at the other end of the tunnel.

Tom Hitchcock is the CEO of Growth Energy member Redfield Energy. He says that the industry is still in limbo. They haven?t heard anything on the future of the promised aid payments.

Hitchcock reminds us of the scenario that played out during the pandemic, and why it is important for the USDA, under the Biden Administration, to follow through on the promise of his predecessor.

Redfield Energy, like other producers, incurred a lot of costs and uncertainty during the pandemic, as they worked to ensure the safety of their workers.

Hitchcock said that last December was already too long of a wait for help and that another year just compounds the issue.
