Benson Hill recently conducted a feeding trial with Perdue Farms to showcase the ability of soybean meal to reduce feed costs while maintaining performance when used in the diets of broiler chickens. The soybean meal in this study was derived from Benson Hill’s Ultra-High Protein, Low Oligosaccharide soybeans. Kurt Long, vice president of Benson Hill, said this adds value to both the soybean industry and the poultry industry.
The goal of the study was to maintain the production ability of the broilers while cutting costs, and Long said they exceeded that by actually improving the performance of the chickens.
Long added that they aim to keep building on this success and bring these improvements to the rest of the livestock industry as well.
