August ending on a very warm note

After we were blessed with amazingly comfortable temperatures for the Iowa State Fair, the temperatures got cranked up a notch just in time for the Farm Progress Show. Fortunately, the temps will be slightly off the highs for the show, as Iowa State Climatologist Dr. Justin Glisan said Monday will go down as the hottest day of the year so far.

The temps we have seen over the past couple of days have been too hot for even the crops, but Glisan said we do want to see warmer temperatures in order to help finish out the corn and soybeans.

While we did see plenty of rain earlier this summer, Glisan said that abnormally dry conditions have crept back into the drought monitor in some parts of the state.

Glisan said there are some chances for rain soon, though.
