ASA talks Farm Bill & other legislative priorities

For Ag groups, Farm Bill negotiations are the equivalent of a kid making out their Christmas list for Santa Claus. You know that you are going to likely get something you are going to be happy with, but it is that time to ask for the best of the best. The things that would be amazing to get, even if your chances are low. It comes down to the old adage that if you can?t get something if you don?t ask.

The American Soybean Association is no different. They have that list of priorities they want to see added, changed, or left alone in the upcoming 2023 version of the bill.

Dave Walton is a farmer from Wilton, Iowa, and a member of the ASA Board of Directors. He talks about what topics they have been discussing with Ag committee leaders.

Outside of the Farm Bill, Walton says they are working hard to get the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to understand that they missed the mark when it comes to biodiesel RVOs that were recently released.

No matter what Washington does, soybean farmers are optimistic about another year. Walton discusses how things look in east central Iowa.
