A “fast and furious” harvest season

It has been a “fast and furious” corn and soybean harvest this fall, that’s according to USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey. Warm and dry conditions have given farmers good conditions for fieldwork which has led to a quick harvest pace, says Rippey.

Rippey says the cooperative weather pattern this fall has been widespread across much of the Corn Belt and other growing regions.

He says the corn harvest is already 13% above the average pace of harvest at this time of year.

The soybean harvest has also gone smoothly with harvest at 81%, or 14% above average.
United States Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is one of two U.S. Senators who are farmers, and he told ag broadcasters and reporters this week that he is happy with his yield numbers this fall.
