As we see more and more cattle movement, biosecurity is becoming increasingly important. David Shirbroun, professional services veterinarian with Boehringer Ingelheim, said there are several things producers can do to make sure they aren’t bringing infected cattle into their herds.
On top of keeping track of diseases in cattle, Shirbroun said producers need to be cautious of the people they allow near their cattle as well.
Shirbroun said the current H5N1 outbreak is a perfect example of how both humans and cattle can transport a disease.
