Navigating tough weather conditions with a more stable form of nitrogen

One of the biggest memories of the 2024 growing season in Iowa will be the extremely wet start to the season. With plentiful rainfall that quickly replenished Iowa’s soil, eventually some areas in the state became oversaturated with water. When there is too much rain farmers can face synthetic nitrogen loss in the form of leaching and volatilization which robs their crops of much needed nitrogen for plant growth.

Chris Turner is the chief commercial officer with Pivot Bio and he says that farmers who opted for Pivot Bio’s microbial nitrogen this season were able to better mitigate nitrogen loss.

Turner says that the application methods for Pivot Bio’s products lead to a more direct delivery of nitrogen to the plant’s roots.

Turner says that on-seed application of Pivot Bio’s microbial nitrogen speeds up the process of planting and makes nitrogen readily available on-seed to help with uptake.

He says the 2024 growing season was a great example of why farmers should complement their fertilizer management plan with Pivot Bio’s products.
