Teddy Bear is the big bull of the 2024 Iowa State Fair, weighing in at 3,064 pounds and earning the win in the Super Bull Contest. The purebred Simmental bull was the heaviest of the three bulls competing and is now on display at the entrance to the Cattle Barn for the remainder of the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Gary Ruebel from Saylorville Iowa is the owner of Teddy Bear and he says that while he always wanted to compete in the Super Bull contest, this was his first year in the competition. He says that the formula for a winning Super Bull is great genetics and a well-crafted feed plan.

Ruebel says that he asked for help from an animal nutritionist to craft a specialized feed mix for Teddy Bear.

In addition to the big frame necessary to pack on pounds, Ruebel says that Teddy Bear also has the demeanor and eating habits needed to reach Super Bull size.

Gary says that Teddy Bear is one of the biggest ag attractions at the fair with a long line of people to see him each day.

Marvin Spear and Gary Dickman of Spear Farm, Indianola, earned second place with the 2,780-pound Angus bull, “Rampage.” Randy and Crystal Dreher of Audubon took home third place with “Albert the 2nd,” a 2,476-pound Angus bull.
