About a year ago we heard about a partnership between the soy, corn, and pork industries called the Farmers for Soil Health initiative. Producers were going to work together to increase the number of acres using cover crops and increase the adoption of several conservation practices by 2030.

As that program has grown, they are starting to see more support. In fact, the Farmers for Soil Health initiative received a substantial USDA grant. Jack Cornell Director of Sustainable Supply for the United Soybean Board tells us more.

The goal of 30 million cover crop acres by 2030 is just the start of the initiative’s goals.

While the soybean, corn, and pork organizations are backing these programs, it’s a farmer-led initiative.
