Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, won his seventh senate term Tuesday beating his challenger Patty Judge, by 60 percent of the vote.
Grassley shared that his top priorities following the election are getting a new farm bill written in 2017, preservation of crop insurance, and pushing for passage of trade deals.
He said that the low commodity prices, means work on the new farm legislation needs to begin soon. He expressed that Senate and House Ag Committee members, tend to work well across the aisles. Work on the new farm bill could move quickly, despite the new administration trying to get their transition team put together.
Grassley says besides the farm bill and trade, getting rid of the Waters of the U.S. rule is another important agriculture priority.
Tuesday night, he promised supporters that he would continue to serve Iowa the way he always has, by traveling the state to hear their concerns, and by taking his duties in the U.S. Capitol seriously.
“I work for you every day, holding at least one meeting in every county every year here at home, and casting more than 7,500 votes without missing a vote. I work to be your voice in Washington. I work to hold government accountable in Washington,” Grassley said.
