My driver today is Indiana farmer Steve Fellure. I have been in his truck a few times now over the years and it is always an enjoyable trip. Our route will take us up to Lima and across to Ft. Wayne and back down to our final destination of the day, just north of Indianapolis. Our other scouts are from Brazil and France. Every year there is a very eclectic list of foreign guests hoping to figure out just what type of crop the U.S has every year. Our first stop of the tour was in Union County, Ohio. I sampled the soybeans along with the Frenchman and he was surprised that our pod count was so long for how great these beans looked from the road. The pods were just not there. Our count in a 3 x 3 foot square was 790. Corn here was really nice and our first field yield calculation was 201.
