National FFA Week shares the story of FFA

Each year, FFA chapters around the country take a week to celebrate National FFA Week. What started as a day-long celebration has evolved to now be a full, week-long celebration where members and alumni share what the FFA is and the impact it has on youth around the country. This year, the celebration runs from February 18-25. Each day has a specific theme and aspect of the FFA that gets highlighted.

In 1947, the National FFA Board of Directors designated the tradition to take place during the week of George Washington?s birthday in order to recognize his legacy as an agriculturist and farmer. Originally just a day-long celebration, FFA members now take a week to recognize the past, present, and future of the organization.

In the spirit of National FFA Week, I thought I’d share my story too. Personally, FFA has been a large part of my life. I was very involved in it during high school, and the FFA ag broadcasting contest is basically the reason I am where I am today. Without the new experiences I gained through my time in the FFA, I?m not so sure if I ever would?ve even considered radio!
