IFB Annual Meeting allows members to broaden agricultural horizons

The Iowa Farm Bureau held its annual meeting in Des Moines on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The event saw many members from around the state coming together to share ag knowledge and industry insights. IFB President Brent Johnson said they all appreciate the opportunity to meet in person and strengthen each other?s networks.

The annual meeting has several educational sessions for members to sit in on and broaden their horizons. Johnson said that many members take advantage of the opportunity to check out topics that they?re not super familiar with yet.

Johnson said that having a varied knowledge of agriculture is incredibly important as the industry continues to expand beyond just farming.

Johnson said they brought in Jason Brown, a former NFL player who walked away from the game to farm, as their keynote speaker, which really shows how agriculturists come from all walks of life.

There are many stories like Brown?s in the ag industry, and it?s our job to tell those stories and spread their messages.

Johnson added that, while he would be perfectly happy keeping those stories to himself, it?s important for farmers to share their stories and talk about the ag industry since they know it better than anyone else.
