The World Food and Music festival kicks off at eleven this morning running through Sunday evening.
Tiffany Tauscheck is with the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
Tauscheck this is the 12th year for the festival.
?Friday, Saturday, Sunday, there will be 45 vendors representing more than 20 countries and culinary regions you can sample entr?es from. You can also enjoy live music as well as participate in different interactive demonstrations and experiences such as Tyco Japanese drumming as well as learn about Zen Calligraphy and even participate in world of trivia.?
Tauscheck says the partnership recently launched Global DSM, an international talent strategy.
?From 2009 to 2014, we have experienced foreign born population growth more than 25 percent. That is higher than the U.S. average about 10 percent and the metro?s average population growth overall is about 12 percent. When we think about the importance of not only welcoming these foreign-born talents into our communities, we also want to make sure that our residents that are already here are aware of the diverse cultural offerings not only in the city but all over the world.?
The World Food and Music festival lasts until 10 o?clock tonight and tomorrow night and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday in downtown Des Moines.
