Two-thousand-and-nineteen was challenging, no doubt about it.
However, agribusinesses are prepared to help you in 2020.
An Iowa-based company is offering “new” products and taking a different approach on row spacing to best serve its grower customers in the year ahead.
Corteva Agriscience and MS Technologies last year launched Enlist E3 soybeans. Stine Seed eagerly awaited this moment, says Dustin Ellis, regional sales agronomist for Stine Seed.
?We had a lot of product in the pipeline and moved forward with those products as soon as we had approval,” Ellis said. “We had a lot of seed acres, as well as growers putting them on their own farms to sell as a commodity.?
Ellis bragged about yield, which showed “Enlist E3 soybeans are as competitive as other traited soybeans available.” He expects sales to soar, as farmers seek greater control over herbicide resistant weeds.
?One of the biggest problems we face is weed resistance,? Ellis said. ?The Enlist E3 soybean is the only soybean on the market today that uses three different herbicides to control weeds. The soybean is able to take the new 2-4D product, Liberty and glyphosate.?
Stine Seed also looks forward to doing things a little differently in the new year. The company will be transitioning to more narrow-planting rows.
?The last few years we have been on twin twenties with all of our corn production, corn research and all of our soybeans. In 2020, we?re going to move everything over to 15-inch,” Ellis said. “The reason we?re doing that is for more ease with the equipment. We?re able to get different planters that aren?t going to have much weight, so we don?t have to worry about as much compaction in the field,? Ellis said.
