KCHA-FM began broadcasting in 1971 and the station has been licensed to broadcast in Charles City ever since. Jim Coloff purchased KCHA and sister stations KCHA-AM, KCZE, KSMA and KLKK in September 2007. KCHA-FM focuses on keeping things local and relevant.
KCHA-AM began broadcasting in 1949. The station played a vital role in Charles City and surrounding areas when a F-5 tornado struck in 1968.
Community Involvement: KCHA not only works within the community, but resides in it as well. The station covers local sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball and softball. KCHA also covers community events by way of interview.
