The Iowa Farm Environmental Leaders awards were presented at a ceremony on Wednesday at the Iowa State Fair. The awards recognize the voluntary actions of farmers that improve or protect the environment and the state’s natural resources.

Gregg Hora, a farmer from Webster county and former Iowa Pork Producers president, is a member of the awards selection committee. He says the environmental awards feature a diverse range of farming operations.
Hora says the awards presented on Wednesday are designed to recognize those who are making soil and water quality improvements to their land for future generations.
He says that Wednesday’s ceremony also helps to show the enthusiasm of Iowa’s farmers to adopt farming practices that improve Iowa’s soil and water quality.
